Dear Nike,
I wasn’t going to replace my dead Nike+ sensor. It was a tough decision.
I love the Nike+ system. It helped me to train for the Human Race, ING Philadelphia Distance Run (half marathon) and the Nike+ Half Marathon in 2008. It’s a fantastic tool, and gives me endless amounts of motivation, just like the people in the Wired article.
My sensor has died, and I wasn’t planning to replace it because my iPod Nano is starting to act squirrelly. I couldn’t see any reason to spend $19 on a replacement sensor that will become useless once my Nano dies. And no, I will not be replacing my Nano because I don’t need or want another iPod of any kind now that I have an iPhone.
But now, I hear that the Nike+ Sportband is back, and the reviews look good. Now, suddenly, my love for Nike+ is rekindled. This is something I’d consider. I’m not running out to buy one right away, but it’s something I’d put on my Christmas list.
And yet, I still don’t understand why you don’t make the darned Nike+ system compatible with the iPhone. The Sportband is certainly a big improvement over having to get a new sensor/Nano combination, but the ideal situation would be to have my Nike+ connect with my iPhone. One less device to pack when I travel, one less device to lose.
So Nike, while I’m really happy about the Sportband, you and Apple really need to find a way to make my sensor and iPhone work together. Please. I’d be very appreciative.
Love,
Alisa
