I had planned to ride my bike today in an effort to give my foot a rest (it hasn’t been causing any trouble, but I still want to be cautious). Unfortunately, I had forgotten to prep my bike last night, and was met with flat tires. Running it is, then.
Today’s Workout
Cardio: I decided to do something a little bit different. Instead of intervals, I opted to walk on the hard concrete and run for distance on the softer trail. End result: 41 minutes at a 12:46 pace, not far off from my average pace with the intervals. From watching my pace on my Nike+ Sportband, I’ve realized that I can sustain an 8:20 pace when running, and about a 14:00 pace walking. Both are fairly decent numbers (for me, anyway).
Stretching/Strength: Uh, well… I got busy and I never quite got around to that part.
Nutrition
Hydration: 70 ounces.
Fruits & Veggies: 3 fruit, 2 veggie.
Net Calories: 1234. This number seems much too low, but I’ve double-checked it on The Daily Plate and it appears to be correct. It also makes me feel like I should splurge and have a cookie as a reward, but I’m really not hungry. Besides, I’m sure I’ll use those extra calories this weekend.
Overall Assessment
I have to admit, this program is making me think twice about my habits. I’m making a conscious effort to always keep a water bottle at my desk. I’m eating fruit with lunch. At dinner, I opted for a reasonably healthy, flavorful salad rather than a burger and garlic fries (although I have to admit that I would have preferred the fries). If I keep this up, I wonder if it will affect my body fat percentage when I measure again in 37 days, and by how much.
