Overall Assessment
I love the chicken ranch sandwich at Chili’s. Sure, a breaded chicken breast coated in wing sauce and slapped on a bun can’t be healthy, but I have it once a month or less. Today after lunch I actually looked up its (lack of) nutritional value: 1,150 calories and 70 grams of fat! Honestly, that’s a day’s worth of fat and calories for a family of four! I could have eaten deep fried cheese sticks dunked in cheese and mayo and still come out with a lower fat and calorie count. Good lord, Chili’s, how is that even possible???
Fortunately, I didn’t eat the whole thing, and only nibbled at a few of the fries. I ate relatively well for the rest of the day, which is how I managed to keep my total calories under the three million mark.
You would think that I would have felt compelled to exercise to offset that calorie load. I did not. I didn’t have time before my 3-year-old alarm clock woke me in the morning, preferred to use the kiddo’s naptime to read my book for book club, and decided against an evening run since it throws off my Monday morning routine. Besides, the point is to live well overall. If that means having days here and there where I don’t live as well as others… well, so be it.
