Random Recipe #13: Cooking With The Spice House

Where do your spices come from? If you’re buying ordinary spices from the supermarket, you’re missing out.

I discovered The Spice House several years ago. This mail-order merchant from Chicagoland has not only the freshest, best-tasting spices that I’ve encountered, they also have incredible blends. Some of my favorites include the Jamaican Jerk seasoning and Tandoori seasoning.

To add just the right flavor to your pasta sauce, try the Pasta Sprinkle. There’s nothing quite like Bouquet Garni to season soup; just pour some in a muslin bag and let it simmer with your soup.

Don’t forget the individual flavors. They sell my favorite cinnamonTurkish bay leaves (also very important in soup), and a dehydrated minced garlic that’s absolutely critical for making meatballs without the chunk-of-large-garlic problem.

They also have a great assortment of recipes, and I’m not just saying that because they published my favorite chili recipe, which you can find here.

Give them a try. It’s going to make a difference in your meals.
