Another 40: Days 12-14

I’m scrambling to play catch-up. Work is all-out insane this week as all clients try to close everything out before the end of the year. The end of the year is Friday. Oh, sure, that’s only the 18th, but with people taking vacation during Christmas week and the week after, that only leaves a small window to do the last-minute, gotta-have-it-done-this-year stuff.

I had a great pilates session on Saturday, one that reminded me just how strong my abs were, even if they’re not exactly visible under the winter blanket of excess belly. The rest of the weekend was spent with my fantastic family, having a very good time. We rode the train of lights on Sunday, a Christmas train decked out with more flashing and blinking strings of lights than that house down the street. Santa came through delivering candy canes, and my 3-year-old stared in awe. “Santa knew that I wanted a candy cane!” He knows things, kiddo.

On Sunday night, I finished How Stella Got Her Groove Back. It was a light, beachy sort of read, one that required few brain cells. This was a necessity to balance out my workload. I’m now trying to read Spunk and Bite, which is a perfectly useful writing tool, but not at all what my brain needs in the evening. I may have to push that to next month’s reading list.

I’ve been doing lots of reading, having finished four books and two magazines in the last two weeks. If only this challenge was an all-reading challenge, I’d be doing great!
