Perhaps I was a bit hasty in embarking on this 40-day challenge. Worse than my work schedule being uncooperative, the weather has been downright nasty. For the past several days, we’ve had overnight lows in the 20s. Considering the problems that I had in October with running on wet leaves, there’s no way that I’m running when it’s icy, never mind the fact that I don’t have the proper clothing for a cold weather run. This has forced my workout routine indoors, and limited me to Wii Fit and resistance band exercises in between conference calls.
On the bright side, I’ve been doing wonders for my mental wellbeing. I’ve been reading every night, which always makes me happy. Last night I went to my monthly Cooking Club meeting, the biggest one of the year. I made new friends, ate yummy entrees and far too many cookies. Today, I met two old friends for lunch and, if schedules permit, I’ll be having lunch or coffee with yet another friend tomorrow. So while my fitness routine suffers, my social calendar is surprisingly and pleasantly full.
Have the holidays and weather thrown off your fitness routine? Have you been making time for yourself in a month where you’re being pulled in a dozen different directions at once? Tell me about it in the comments.
