The 3rd 40: Days 7 and 8

I haven’t exactly hit the ground running with the Big Project yet. We’re still haggling over indemnification clauses in the master agreement, so even though I’ve done some work already (always a bad idea without signed paperwork), there’s a chance that they just might cut me loose for trying to protect myself. And if that’s the case… well, it would be horrible, but sometimes you just have to stand your ground.

If we do manage to resolve this contractual impasse, I have no doubt that it will coincide perfectly with my trip to Chicago next Wednesday through Friday. I’m going for the PRSA Health Academy conference. I’m also secretly hoping to find some time to run along Lake Michigan in the morning. I love watching the masts of the sailboats swaying with the tide as the sunrise shimmers on the water.

I went to kickboxing this morning. Usually the class involves a 20 minute warmup, 20 minutes of bag work and 20 minutes of weights and stretching (not to mention 100 pushups and 100 triceps dips). Today it was 40 minutes of bag work, and I have to say that by about 30 minutes into the class I was getting the hang of it. Let’s not go so far as to suggest that I might have looked coordinated, but my kicking and punching was more or less on rhythm. That’s a huge step for me.
