Be Careful What You Wish For

Remember when I mentioned that I’d hoped to step out of my shell this year to do more public speaking? My wish has been granted. I’ve been selected to speak at the 2011 American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) Conference in Jacksonville this fall. The topic: Presenting Yourself as a Freelance/Independent Professional. Three Days, Mile High

I’ve handed out a few dozen business cards and every person has commented on my tagline: “Clarifying complex ideas! That’s fantastic — how did you come up with that?” Two words: Dyana Valentine….

AMWA Conference

I’m leaving on a jet plane today, heading to Dallas, Texas for the annual American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) conference. I get to spend four days learning about topics like statistics, regulatory aspects of the drug development process, virology, epidemiological research and health policy reform. My inner med geek is very excited.
