In September, I had the opportunity to present my work at the International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD), hosted at Columbia University in New York City. My paper, “Measuring the Impacts of Digital Initiatives: Are We Helping or Harming?” was honored with the Best Paper recognition for the category of Digital technologies and the SDGs: Past successes and future directions.
This was a pleasant surprise. My work doesn’t always fit into neat little boxes. It’s not “just content” or “just sustainability.” To be recognized at one of the top international conferences for sustainable development issues is a really big deal. It’s an honor to be awarded at a conference attended by researchers and practitioners that include heads of state, U.N. officials, executives, economists, and academics. It helps to validate that my work is on the right track.
